Welcome from Adrian Belton, Chair
Thank you for your interest in this exceptional opportunity to join Stockport NHS Foundation Trust as our new Chief Executive and to play a critical role as a system leader within the ‘Stockport Together’ partnership. This is a pivotal time for the health and social care system in Stockport and we are looking to recruit a special person with qualities that will support and inspire at the most exciting and transformative point of our history.
Stockport is playing a lead role in developing new models of care and we are at the forefront of innovation and change in health and care service delivery as a national Vanguard. With new leaders joining several of our key partners in the last six months, we are at a defining moment with a single strategic plan, as part of a formal alliance, across the borough that will integrate health and social care services and enhance our community provision. We are committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for local people at a time of growing demand and restricted funding.
Significant developments are also taking place on our hospital site as one of only four ‘hub’ sites in Greater Manchester for high risk general surgery. We are working closely with partners within Greater Manchester, the first region in the country to be given devolution, and particularly within the South-East sector to ensure we create a future health and care model that can expand and work across our geographies.
We are therefore interested in hearing from experienced leaders who can demonstrate the successful application of a collaborative style of working across organisational boundaries, an ability to engage and inspire multi disciplinary teams, and successful delivery of the cultural changes necessary as services are increasingly redesigned and integrated around the needs of patients and communities.
Although you will need a good understanding of the NHS, we are interested in hearing from candidates who also bring leadership experience and understanding of the wider health and social care economy. In common with many other integrated models of care, its success will hinge on how effectively patients and services users adopt preventative health behaviours and use community or neighbourhood based services. The engagement challenge is therefore huge, and will draw on the successful candidate’s ability to communicate internally and externally.
Whilst there are exciting possibilities on the horizon, this role will also require a resilient leader who will ensure delivery of a robust future model both financially and clinically whilst supporting our teams in the continued turnaround of our current operational and financial position.
This will be a challenging and rewarding role which will grow in scope and complexity. I do hope that you find out more about our organisation, achievements, challenges and future and this role and I encourage you to contact Emma Pickup at GatenbySanderson on 0113 205 6289 in the first instance to find out more and discuss your experience.
I look forward to meeting you during the process.
Chair, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
